The meeting of the National Assembly unanimously passed a proposal, seeking consideration on 'Bill Relating to Land (8th amendment)' today. The Assembly Chair presented the bill for the consideration.

Earlier, Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Padma Kumari Aryal, presented the bill including the message received from the House of Representatives.

In response to the queries raised during the discussion, Minister Aryal defended that Bill was brought in a way it would not violate the fundamental rights guaranteed constitutionally. "Constitution has guaranteed every citizen's rights.

The bill has not contravened this provision. Prosperity is ensured with proper use of land," she underscored. She argued the Bill brought at a time when the land policy was already implemented has intended to realize that none would be landless.

The problems facing the people in 12 types of unorganized settlements would be solved in different way, the Minister added. Minister Aryal stressed that the forest land would not be distributed to the landless people.

The government will launch a land survey across the country again. The Bill has also lifted the ban on the sale of lands with optimum sealing. The lawmakers had made aware the government that the forest land was depleting by showing the problems of the landless squatters.

However, others than real landless must not get advantage while solving the problems of the landless squatters, the lawmakers reiterated in the meeting.
