Punam Shrestha has won a gold medal in Judo for Nepal in the 13th South Asian Games. In the match for the gold medal held today, Punam defeated Farina Khanom of Bangladesh in the under 78 category to come out first. Earlier, she had defeated Nawanit Kaur of India to enter the final.

Likewise, in 70 kg category, Binita Magar won silver. She lost to Indian athlete in the final. Sri Lanka won bronze. Also today at the match held at the Nepali Army Sports Training Centre in Lagankhel, Sriram Makaju won a bronze in 90 kg men's category. India won gold while Pakistan won silver in the event.
