Province no 3 and China's Lanzhou become sister cities

Kathmandu, May 13

An agreement has been signed between Province No 3 and Lanzhou of Gansu province in China here today to develop relations between these two provinces at people-to-people level.

Towards this, the representatives from the sides signed an agreement to cultivate sister city relations between Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Lanzhou here today. They agreed to undertake initiatives enabling mutual benefits between the two cities at local level.

Chief Minister of Province no 3 Dormani Poudel and KMC Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya and governor of Gansu province Tang Renjian and Deputy Chief Kaiun signed the memorandum of understanding.

Lazhou is the capital city of Gansu province in northwest in China. The famous river in China Yellow River runs through the city. On the occasion, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Chakrapadi Khanal underscored the need to seek new possibilities and areas for the economic development and prosperity of people of Nepal and China.

CM Poudel urged the Chinese delegates to consider bringing in investment in Province no 3 as he affirmed that Province No 3 had robust resources as minerals and rich biodiversity. Likewise, Governor Renjian shed light on various avenues of natural resources and development in his province. Mayor Shakya shared that the agreement was signed for sister city after several discussions.

Development of agriculture, energy and tourism were accorded highest priority. Deputy Chief Kaiun expressed his confidence that today’s agreement would aid in promoting the ties between the two countries at people-to-people level.
