Sanitation campaign continues with slogan ‘two hours a week for nation’

The sanitation campaign focused on rivers and ring road in the Kathmandu Valley has been continued with the slogan ‘two hours a week for the nation’.

The Bagmati mega cleanup campaign was begun six years back inspiring the Valley denizens to maintain cleanliness in the surrounding rivers and roads.

The cleanup campaign was launched at the initiative of then Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal helped a lot to bring massive public awareness, drawining more and more volunteers for the cleanliness in most of the river in the Valley, said campaigner Keshav Prasad Pudashaini, suggesting the government that it brought policy and laws to continue this campaign more effectively.

Today as well, more than 500 campaigners involved in the cleanup at Koteshwor Mahadevsthan marking the 318 week of the initiative. Five metric tons of garbage was collected by them.

Cine artists also joined the campaign. Similarly, marking 280th week of Guheshwori Bagmati sanitation, the people collected garbage from Guheshwori area. The Rudramati cleanup group collected trashes from Tatopul to Kalopul area.

Some 250 persons including Everest summiteer Chhoyoki Sherpa, Nepal Army and Nepal Police persons, and the people involved in Patanjal Yog Committee Nepal, Creative and Energetic Yog Centre involved in the clean up at Nepaltar area of Tarakeshwor municipality under the 245 week of Bishnumai clean up today.

Other areas cleaned today were Tilganga, Town Plannign of Samakhushi, Baphal, Kailash hill of Pashupati and others.
