Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun visiting Austria

Kathmandu, Vice President, Nanda Bahadur Pun, is leaving for Vienna, the capital city of Austria, on Sunday, at the invitation of the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, in order to attend the R20 Austrian World Summit being held in Vienna on 28 May.

The Summit is dedicated to climate action, said the Foreign Ministry, adding that Minister for Forest and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet will accompany the Vice President during the visit, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On 27 May, the Vice President will attend the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Vienna International Centre, the hub of multilateral diplomacy in Vienna. In the evening, he will attend the reception to be hosted by Austrian Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in honour of the visiting Presidents, Vice Presidents, Prime Ministers and heads of delegations. As per the schedule, the Vice President will speak at a panel on climate action at the R20 Austrian World Summit on 28 May.

The panel consists of Heads of State and government from different countries. Moreover, the Vice President visits the International Mount Everest Day celebration being held in Innsbruck on 29 May 2019 and addresses the event there.

He is scheduled to return home on 31 May. The delegation will also include spouse of the Vice President, Hastamali Pun, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Forest and Environment, the Foreign Ministry added.
